What are bulletproof shades made of?
Ballistic shades are made from advanced materials like Kevlar, a synthetic fiber recognized for its high tensile strength and impact resistance. They typically consist of multiple layers of Kevlar or similar ballistic-grade fabrics, which are woven together and laminated to create a dense, flexible barrier. Some versions also include polycarbonate panels or composite materials that boost their protective properties.
How do Bulletproof Shades Work?

Types of Bulletproof Shades We Offer
All About Blinds offers bulletproof shades, shields, and curtains that can protect a building against bullets, shrapnel, and blast debris.
- Bullet-Resistant Window Shades: These look and function like classic lightweight window coverings. They use RollEase or Somfy® motors and can be installed in 30 minutes or less.
- Bullet-Resistant Roll-Up Door Shields: These also use RollEase or Somfy® motors and can be quickly deployed to cover an entire door. When not in use, they won't block your doors.
- Bullet-Resistant Fixed Panel Door Shield: These shields easily mount to the door itself; they're permanent and offer constant protection. They install in just 15 minutes, with variants for different door closures like knobs and push bars.
- Bullet-Resistant Curtains: Similar to conventional window coverings, these bullet-resistant curtains are available certified for either UL752 Level 2 protection or made-to-order protection levels.
All About Blinds offers these products through a partnership with Ballistic Barrier Products. Order them in standard colors like white, gray, charcoal, or beige. You can also choose from a selection of custom fabrics and valances. We work with designer fabric brands like Casamance, Holly Hunt, Link, and Mokum—custom designs, patterns, prints, and logos are available.
